The biggest change you’ll notice is the small navigation bar below each comic. These items were previously on the sidebar, and – to be honest, I think most people never paid attention to them. The revised placement should help.

One thing I wish I could add back to the site is the ability to e-mail your favorite ‘toon to a friend, and have the button directly under each comic. The technical voodoo required to re-enable such a feature (long a staple on the old PC Weenies site) is a bit beyond my capacity. Maybe there’s a clever WordPress plugin that will let me do that?

The next two weeks will be very busy for me, with Kids Read Comics this coming weekend, and the final week of our school’s spring academic quarter looming the week after.

I’ve plotted at least 4 new strips on the current storyline, but I’m holding off on drawing them until I return back from KRC. (Sorry!) I also have two new guest-star strips to write and draw, which are now my immediate areas of focus. On Friday, I completed two more comics for site sponsor Other World Computing. You should be seeing the first of the strips sometime next week. I’ve also prepared my first review of their product, namely the OWC Slim ExpressCard to eSATA adapter. Look for that later this week as well.

Comic-wise, I’m planning to run some new takes on some classic single panel PCW ‘toons that you may not have seen (unless you’ve been with me since the beginning). These are are all heavily IT skewed. Talk about a blast from the past! it was fun to go back and bring them “up to snuff” artwise. These comics were quick to draw, and it’s saving my bacon during a very hectic period. I haven’t had much free time to draw outside of making comics for PCW, UN3 and OWC. Hopefully things will settle down after mid-June…

Earlier today, I thoroughly reorganized my office studio, and updated photos can be seen to document the aftermath of that event.

Yesterday was an incredibly productive day. I finally got around to updating the Guest-Stars page for 2009 and 2010 guest-stars. You know what? We need more guest-stars.

I’ve cleaned up and organized my office space for a brief tour, along with some updated information on the hardware I use.

UNcubed got a visual overhaul yesterday, with a much requested feature: improved comic navigation. I can’t believe this was on my list for 2 years (!). It took 2 hours to get things moving, courtesy of my good friend Phil “Frumph” Hofer.

One of the best ways online comics get exposure is by way of various social networks like StumbleUpon, Reddit, Digg and Facebook.

You can help The PC Weenies grow its audience by simply sharing your favorite PCW comic to these avenues. It’s totally FREE and takes less than a few seconds to do. It’s the *best* way you can support the comic, outside of purchasing my books and ordering guest-star appearances.

So, I have a mission for you, Dear Reader (should you choose to accept it)

1. Find your top three PC Weenies comics in the archives.

2. Pick your favorite social networking site.

3. Share the ones you love one one of these networks. (To make it easy, you can use the icons below each comic).

You may post a few comics on your own site as well, as long as you host the comic on your own server, and show attribution by linking back to www.pcweenies.com.

This is a grassroots movement that I feel will help bring the comic to new audiences, which in turn will allow me to continue to invest in making more PCW ‘toons for you.

The latest addition to my studio is the small foldable table that serves two purposes – to house my laptop and to give me an area where I can actually write / draw. The monthly calendar was purchased to help me track appointments / To-Do’s / etc.

As a result of my 2005 edition PC Weenies mug breaking this morning, I decided it was time to make a new one, with an updated design. This design comes from the cover art of the PC Weenies / UNcubed Sampler #2 (now available!).

Once I am satisfied with the prototype, I’ll make this design available for order (in case you’d like to have your very own PCW mug, too.)

The PC Weenies is now a site affiliate for Backblaze, a company squarely focused on online data back-up. After careful research into all my data back-up options, I chose Backblaze for my data back-up needs. They charge $5 per month (you can pay as you go, or pay for one year (or two). The company offers a free trial so you can test out their services without paying a penny.

As the old adage goes – it’s not a matter of “if you’ll lose your data”, it’s “when”.

I’m pleased to announce that pcweenies.com is a site affiliate for Backblaze. All my data is now fully backed up on their servers. The Backblaze app runs quietly in the background, uploading data that you specify. You can back up from both internal and external drives attached to your computer. Have more than one computer? Only $5 more per computer per month. That’s not a bad deal for peace of mind.

I don’t take site affiliates lightly. My reputation is on the line, and I would not endorse a company if I didn’t believe in them 110%. Backblaze has earned their reputation.

The inspiration behind this move was looking at old school Marvel comics. Usually on the front page, there would be a small blurb of text at the very top of the page that would describe the premise of the characters and the story.

It’s been a while, but there’s yet another very cool “Rebootus Maximus” sighting. This photo features Wade Farrow and his son Max holding their copy of the book between Bryson City and Franklin, NC – just south of the Smoky Mountains. What a marvelous photo. Thanks, Wade, for sending it in!

I’m still working on a gallery of Rebootus Maximus readers. If you’ve got the book (and you really should buy one!), send in a photo with your book. The more interesting the venue the better!

I wanted to share some good news. The PC Weenies have made two lists. The first is from InstantShift, spotlighting 60+ Comic Strips for Web Designers about the Internet and Technology.

The second hails from Italy (my guess), in an article from KomixJam, dubbed 71 Magnifii-esempi-di-di-comics-fumetti-manga-e-strisce-comiche.

Both lists feature the works of many incredible cartoonists. It was an honor to have PC Weenies included. That’s it for now.
